The partners will work collaboratively to provide leadership and challenge when needed and learn from reviews to improve when needed.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility to work together to ensure that all children and young people are safe and feel safe within their homes, schools and communities.

In December 2023, the updated Working Together to Safeguard Children was published, so all agencies understand and work together to help protect and promote the welfare of children. There are three local safeguarding statutory partners in Tameside (safeguarding partners) who are jointly responsible for the partnership arrangements: Greater Manchester Police, Integrated Care Boards (ICB) and the Local Authority. The Tameside Safeguarding Childrens Partnership (TSCP) provides the arrangements under which the Safeguarding Partners and relevant agencies work together to coordinate their services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in in Tameside.

The Tameside Safeguarding Children Partnership works towards two key principles:

  • To place the welfare and safety of children at the heart of everything we do. We will ensure that the impact on children and families will inform every conversation we have, every piece of work we do, every decision we take and every change we make.
  • To challenge ourselves and each other, whilst equally taking a shared responsibility approach to improvement. As Tameside works to become 'brilliant at basics', we challenge, support and define how we work as a partnership.

The strength of partnership working, is built upon the safeguarding partners working collaboratively together with all other relevant agencies and services in Tameside who come into contact with children and families.

The relevant agencies for the TSCP arrangements are named as:

  • All mainstream, special, independent and free schools
  • All early year’s settings
  • Post-16 education and training providers
  • Tameside and Glossop Hospital Trust
  • GP Practices
  • Greater Manchester Police
  • NHS Trust – Ambulance Service
  • Diocese and other faith organisations
  • Voluntary and community organisations
