“Protecting my health, well-being and my rights as a human.”

“Safeguarding is the adults around me who keep me out of harm”

“Keeping safe, making sure you’re looked after and feel protected”

Safeguarding is a term used in the United Kingdom and Ireland that looks at the procedures to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people-especially children, young people and vulnerable adults- to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

Working Together to Safeguard Children

working together

The ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ is a guide for all the different people who should work together if you need help. It explains what is expected of them, and what they have to do to make sure you are listened to. It also tells them how they can help you understand what help and support you can get.

Sometimes people will need to make decisions quickly to make sure you are safe, and this guide explains how they do that, including explaining to you what is happening and why.

This version of the guide is made especially for children and young people. It has been written because you have a right to know how the people who help you work with each other and what you can expect when you ask for help.
